Neighborhood Watch - Heritage Hills - Yosemite Intersection

* * * * * * *

The Lone Tree Police Department has recently received several complaints regarding drivers exiting the Heritage Hills Community

onto Yosemite, at Lone Tree Parkway. One of these complaints is that drivers who are exiting Heritage Hills are not using their turn signal when turning south onto Yosemite.   A turning driver must yield to

Sgt. Scott Cavenah

those motorists that are proceeding straight. When drivers use their turn signal, it indicates their direction of travel. FAILURE TO USE YOUR TURN SIGNAL is a violation of municipal and State law and is punishable by a $60.00 fine and 2 points assessed against your driver's license.

The second complaint has been in regard to drivers not coming to a complete stop on a red light before making a right hand turn onto north bound Yosemite from Heritage Hills.   This is a great concern to us, since we have had so many pedestrian involved accidents within the City.

To date, we have had 10 auto vs. pedestrian accidents and several close calls at this intersection, where the majority of these accidents were caused when a driver failed to come to a complete stop.   Failure to come to a complete stop at a controlled intersection is no different than running a red light and is a violation of municipal and State law and is punishable by a fine of $110.00 and 4 points assessed against your driver's license.

We wanted to bring these problems to your attention to gain voluntary compliance.   Please let your neighbors know that we do enforce these laws to make our community safer.   If you have any questions regarding this e-mail, please contact Sgt. Scott Cavenah at 303-339-8156.
